Not Solved Where to start?
Hey guys,

Just came across this wonderful forum and registered because I am the owner of an android box (pic attached) and desperately want to get 720p and 1080p movies working on this box with XBMC. As I'm quite new to andrioid I installed the offcial build of XBMC and while SD films streamed fine, 720P and 1080P content is unwatchable due to bad jittering.

First I will give the details of my box:

Model number: MBX reference board (g18ref)
Android version 4.2.2
Kernal Version: 3.0.50
Build Number: JDQ39.20130510e
Chipset: AML8726-MX
GPU Mali-400
FLASH 8GB NAND FLASH
SDRAM 1GB DDR3

My Box is not Rooted

I'm hoping to be able to stream 1080p content using XBMC over wifi

Just done a speed test there using the box and here are the results:

Ping: 30ms
Download speed 25mbps

I have a couple of questions:

1) To get XBMC working on this box will my current firmware version be ok or do I need to upgrade the firmware? If I do need to upgrade the firmware which one should I use?

2) I see there are many versions of XBMC on this site. Which one should I use to play 720p and 1080p movies?

3) Does anyone here own one of these boxes and have XBMC successfully streaming HD content via the box?

4) Is there an easy way I can root this box?

Hope you guys can help me out

Thanks in advance guys

Alan

Not Solved RE: Where to start?
It does of course depend on the encoding, but I'm pretty sure you will have problems streaming 1080p on your 25Mbps network.

Thanks for you rreply Alex

Id be happy enough to purchase home plugs for streaming HD

Can you recommend a firmware for me to try mate?

Or a version of XBMC?

From the photo I attached I assume my box is an MX and NOT an M3 box?

Cheers mate

Not Solved RE: Where to start?
Thanks mate, Will give it a shot

Can I ask you some questions about that release?

1) Is it android 4.22?
2) Is the firmware rooted?
3) Does the XBMC incorporated into that firmware play 1080p without stuttering?
4) Is this a better firmware than your customised G-Box midight firmware?
5) is there any way to backup my stock ROm thats on the box now before performing this upgrade?

Sorry about all the questions mate Smile

Love your forum

Cheers

Not Solved RE: Where to start?
1) It is android 4.2.2
2) Yes
3) Yes, not all streams though (someone might correct me here)
4) it is modified, includes latest addons and apps
5) not sure you could easily do this...
