I was quite satisfied with your customized GBox solution except for the bundled old Netflix version that still shows small subtitle fonts. The firmware originally included with the device I got was slow, and I couldn't make Netflix to work on that. So the GBox firmware was a refreshing step forward for me, even though it wasn't the best Netflix support.

So I gave it a shot to this one, which doesn't include bundled Netflix (nor XBMC) as the previous. Then, I installed Netflix from GPlay and it works like a champ.

Talking about XBMC, I installed one of the builds you posted and it works great so far. Maybe I will add a review entry to the spreadsheet you started there.

Thanks again!

That's odd. It says it includes XBMC Xios build from 10052015?????

At least I couldn't find any XBMC in the apps list, so I assumed it wasn't there. Am I missing something?

Wifi is working with this firmware(both drivers are included 8188eu and 8192co).

I used Titanium backup to restore all apps and data after I upgraded to this firmware, so I was ready in a few minutes...

The full 1080p in XBMC isn't working yet(still scaled). I guess we have to wait for Matricom to solve this...

How can you tell about the 1080p?

How can I tell I'm not playing full 1080p? I just watched a 1080p movie and XBMC showed the 1080p icon. I had no reason to think it wasn't full-hd.

For the record, I was using xbmc-matricom-gbox-debug-20130522.apk, posted by Evgeniy here.

So, again, can this FW be installed on top of the Customized GBox MX2 4.2.2 Firmware 20130514?
Thanks.

Sorry. But I think you miss understood me. You said it is still not playing in 1080p, and that it is scaled. I just want to know how you know that it is scaled, and not full 1080p?

If you mean after following this guide, then yes. I did install new firmware posted in this thread (20130525) on top of it (20130514), with no issues so far.

Regards.

Yes. If I already have Customized GBox MX2 4.2.2 Firmware 20130514 on my box, can I just install this one on top of it without any extra steps?

Matricom (DEVilishWAY) does not want others to use their firmware, but they forget they are building on open source software and that's the spirit of open source. If they don't want to share, they should have thought about it before using android and xbmc.
There's a reason companies use open source now...because they don't have the money to develop a whole OS and media center on their own. The drawback is that they have to share, there's no way around it.

What OTA are you talking about? You did your own OTA server for DroidTV?

Matricom contacted us and they were disappointed we have re branded and shared their firmware. They have nothing against if we use their firmware, but they claim, they have some parts which have been developed and licensed by them - AC3 & DTS. We have already requested more details from them.
They provided with the link to the XBMC sources ( http://www.scribd.com/doc/141620034/XBMC...load-Files ), but there were already many discussions that Matricom didn't included the changes their applied.
There: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...pid1421457 and there http://androidtvbox.us/topic/mx2-availab...#post-8959
As well, they hold the sources for the MX box, they should have released them, but still they haven't...

Regarding the OTA update. It's not as difficult as it looks from the first sight. If anybody interested PM me and I'll share the details on this.

My bad, I included wrong factory_update_param file. All installed files were wiped out after the installation Blush
Have updated the uploaded archive file.
Update your factory_update_param with the following code:
Code:
--set_efuse_version=2
--set_efuse_ethernet_mac
--wipe_cache
--update_package=/sdcard/DroidTV-MX-g18ref-ota-20130525.zip

So does the updated archive include the XBMC Xios build? And can someone tell me if I can apply this firmware inside android with the upgrade app. Thanks.

I've read many things about this Matricom company. It appears they do not understand the concept of open source!!!!! Dodgy Maybe someone needs to make them understand it!!!Angry
